Representing Minorities onstage and backstage
As the disabled child of a Vietnamese refugee father and a White-American mother, Hannah always knew she was different. Because she didn't look or live the same way as the people around her, she searched for kindred spirits in books and on screen, and her love of storytelling began.
In May of 2023, Hannah graduated from Florida Southern College with dual B.F.A.s in Theatre Performance and Technical Theatre (Stage Management). Her educational credits include playing Ophelia in Hamlet and stage managing The Diary of Anne Frank and Something Rotten. Hannah was also an Assistant Stage Manager Apprentice at the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company during their 2022 summer season, where she worked simultaneously on As You Like It and Macbeth.
In 2023, Hannah was grateful to make her professional lead debut in Theatre Mu's world premiere of Kung Fu Zombies: Shaman Warrior & Cannibals. Alongside a cast of almost entirely East and South-East Asian actors, she finally found a story that helped represent her. This summer, Hannah is playing Regan in King Lear and Leticia in The Lucky Chance at the Island Shakespeare Festival on Whidbey Island, WA, alongside two other strong, POC leading ladies.
Now based in New York, Hannah strives to represent her minority groups and others'; onstage and backstage. Whether it is through portraying classically "white" roles or being part of a diverse crew, she is proud to bring her unique self to the industry. Together, representation is possible!
